ENJOY THE NOTHINGNESS
I absolutely love the day after Christmas. It is a day filled with what no other day of my year is filled with…NOTHINGNESS!!! The rest of the year we are going from meeting to meeting, appointment to appointment and place to place. There is 364 days of sheer busyness. It never stops. People demand things of us and we do them…not because of the desire to do so, but because we have this incessant need to be busy. However, there is one day out of the year that everything stands still. For most it is Christmas Day. However, that day is usually filled with all sorts of things to do. Family to see, meals to eat, toys to play with, gadgets to fiddle with and many more things. But…the day after…my favorite day of the year…brings about NOTHINGNESS. It is the one day of the year that I can sit on my couch and not move for hours. I watch new movies we have gotten or an entire season of a show that I have not seen in years. No matter what the nothingness is, it is wonderful. This morning I have played Tiger Woods 09′ while laying on my couch, I have shopped the day after Christmas sales online while laying on my couch, I have eaten fudge and a banana while laying on my couch and now I am watching the new Tinkerbell movie and writing this blog while….you guessed it…laying on my couch. I am going to thoroughly enjoy the nothingness today. I hope that you will do the same. Maybe nothingness is a practice we should enjoy more than one day a year. So…what are you doing for the day today? ENJOY YOUR DAY OF NOTHINGNESS!!!!

the sad thing is that we still do much during our nothingness. twitter, facebook, update our blog, read others blog, etc. with technology now I think nothingness is next to impossible.
For sure man…I believe that it is next to impossible…unless we go to remote places and unplug completely.
I think its more discipline than anything. You just need to make up your mind to NOT do it. As you can see, I have mastered this technique by responding to a blog
– learn from the master.
Enjoy your day of rest Trevor.

I never really thought about “the day after Christmas” like this before, but you’re right! It’s FABULOUS! The Nagengast house is LOVING today!
All still in pj’s, the girls are painting, and Keith and I are watching BSG. And I don’t even LIKE this show! it’s great!
Definitely need to put more “DO NOTHING” days on the calendar!
