I have been captivated recently again with Billy Collins work. He is a poet and has a new book called Ballistics. You should pick up a copy and enjoy his thoughts and prose of life. Here is my favorite thus far. Ok...so one of my best friends on this clod of dirt called earth is a guy named Bo Chancey. He just finished writing a book that he has been working on for three years and it was just released this week. I have read it twice now and I have to say that it is pretty phenomenal. You should for sure go and pick up a copy for yourself and buy a second one for a friend. Or you could make it your small group material. Or you could make it your book club reading. Or you could put it in your car and read it at stop lights...or while you are driving. Or you could read it while doing your business, if you know what I mean. Right now some of you just said, "WOW!!!" Is Trevor bitter? Is he enraged? The answer to both of those is no. However, I am concerned with the state of ministry and those that minister in the worlds of church around me in the past few years. Now I preface this entire post by giving you my history from the past few years. A little over three years ago I was doing full time ministry here in the Dallas area (which I still am). Life was moving along and marriage and ministry were going great. However there was something going on in my life and ministry that no one seemed to care about even though I was living in a manner that was destructive. In the two years I had lived here I had gone from 200lbs to 240lbs. Now 40lbs is a lot...but I was already 40lbs overweight. I was slowly killing myself. I did not have a disease.
