At the expense of sounding redundantly redundant (to late), this week was more incredible than the last. I was not sure how it was gonna be, considering how it started. I rolled over and looked at the clock at 6:05am today. Now you may be thinking, "what's the big deal? Church does not start until 9:00am." Well, for most that is true, but for a good chunk of us we need to be there at 6:30am-ish to unload and set up. Normally I am up and out the door by 5:50am. I am stopping at Starbucks by 5:58am to get my tall five shot americano with four splenda. And I am usually pulling into the parking lot at 6:15am. However, that was all thrown out the window by waking up late. But, I simply allowed myself to roll with the punches being that I was preaching on the God That Is In Control. Seemed almost comical that this is how my day would start. As I thought back through today I wanted to share some personal highlights from the day. 1. Our set up team was awesome today. All were there early and … [Read more...]
SUNDAY NIGHT REFLECTIONS
It was at 5:50am this morning that I was driving in the dark towards a sleepy little town named Roanoke, TX. I prayed another simple prayer from the lips of a very simple man. My prayer was this: "GOD, make yourself known today in ways that I never knew existed. God, show up in ways that will make us know that it was you and not us. God change lives today. God transform lives today. God bring comfort and peace to those that are hurting. God...simply...bring people today." Just when I thought that our Sunday worship moments together could not get any better, God just keeps answering simple prayers. I don't know why it surprises me so much when he does. I mean I did ask him to do these things. So why I am so shocked when he actually answers. Today was another incredible day in the life of our Compass Roanoke Campus. Here are some highlights from the day: 1. Our set up team is nails every week. They faithfully and wonderfully serve week in and week out. Thanks for showing up at 6:30am … [Read more...]
ROBERT GOTCHER BAND

"BEEP...BEEP...BEEP...BEEP...BEEP..." That was the sound that I heard first thing on this overcast Saturday morning. 6:15am on a Saturday? What on earth could get me out of bed at an hour like that on a Saturday morning? Well...glad you asked. Today was the day that I would get the privilege to shoot the pictures for some of my favorite people. I rolled out of bed, got ready, and headed out the door. Gear was packed and the morning was warm. I pulled into Starbucks at 6:35am and ordered my tall, 5 shot, four splenda, americano. Don't judge, you have your "thing" too. I sat down with my coffee and simply waited. It was quiet. I was the only one in there. I thought through my day, the photo shoot, the locations. Then my mind just simply...went blank. It was nice. I just listened to the sounds of an early morning coffee shop. I listened to the Barista's share life and laugh. Roger was the first to show up. We sat and enjoyed each others company. Then one by one the rest of the band … [Read more...]
GETTING LESS FAT: PART 5 MEET KEVIN
Yesterday was day nine of my campaign called Getting Less Fat: 2010. Over the past few weeks I have been involved with the Jay Johnson Boot Camp. We meet every other day from 5:30am-6:30am. It is just an hour, but it is an hour that owns me every single time. Each session we have a different trainer that works drastically different parts of the human body. Today I introduce you to Kevin. He is our Wednesday trainer. He is an incredibly nice guy who has more energy than that little pink bunny that has been going and going for years. He is so nice yet kills you at the same time. So without further adieu...meet Kevin!!! FYI: To date I have lost almost 4% body fat and I am feeling great. Go HERE to view on YouTube. … [Read more...]
IF YOU PUKED TODAY RAISE YOUR HAND…GLF: PART 4
Welcome to the latest installment of Getting Less Fat. This is week three of boot camp and to say that it is getting easier, well...that would be a LIE!!! It has been hard, but really really good. If you are looking to get your self in shape and want some great encouragement doing it make sure you check out JAY JOHNSON'S WEBSITE. They have many locations around the metroplex and are really affordable for what you get. They also have a great new set of dvd's out that Laura and I got. I was leery about buying workout dvd's because they are usually cheesy. However, these are well produced, well shot, and you feel as if you are at boot camp. A must have if you cannot actually go to boot camp itself. For more on the update check out the video below. If you are a YouTube user you can see it HERE!!! GETTING LESS FAT: PART 4 from Trevor DeVage on Vimeo. … [Read more...]

SUNDAY NIGHT THOUGHTS!!!
Today was an incredible day. I the midst of a seemingly crazy week in the DeVage household, God has never left us or let us down. The week started with Ella getting sent home from school with a fever. The next day we found out she had strep throat. Thursday the "Arctic Blast 2010" shut down the metroplex, or as I like to call it, "Cold Pavement 2010." We also found out that day that our other daughter Natalie had a double ear infection and strep throat as well. Just when I thought we were coming out of it, I bent over to some cheese out of the fridge...yes that's right...cheese...and threw my back out. For whatever reason we were not shaken or discouraged. In fact my anticipation of the weekend was higher than ever before. I fully expected for God to show up in some huge ways. Here are a few highlights for ya. We started a new series called "First Person" and talked about the name YAHWEH today. It was my favorite message I have the privilege to communicate. We had amazing … [Read more...]
