FEATHERING LIFE

feather

As I looked down at my leg this morning there was a feather ever so gently kissing the denim between it and the skin of my thigh. I didn't really notice it until it caught my eye. Why? Because it was not weighing me down. There was no burden it was asking me to carry. It was light, soft and simply taking a short journey through my story of life. That's the funny thing about feathers of life...they are easy to carry!!! Their burden is light and asks nothing of us. However... Sunday I hopped a plane from DFW to Colorado. For the lack of wanting to pack a suite case that would need to be checked and go through the process of possible loss I packed all that I could into my backpack. There was also another backpack filled with camera gear. I had friends out here who wanted new photos done and so at their request along came backpack number 2. As I walked through the airport I realized what a load these bags were. They were burdensome to me. Every fifty feet or so I found myself having to … [Read more...]

FINDING THE RHYTHM OF LIFE

findingvoice

Some of you may know that over the past couple of years I have had the privilege to be a part of a group of men that are taking a journey of life together. Two years ago none of us knew each other. We showed up in Estes Park, Colorado in hopes that this was not an Amway Scam or some sort of "leave us in the woods for dead" kind of thing. Sure enough it was neither. It was simply this vision of one man to help bring rhythm and pace to lives of young men before they found themselves burnt out and ready to quit. I have to say that at first my desire was nothing more than to come, get refreshed and replenished, and come home. I had no real desire to make friends. I had no real desire to pour out. I had not desire than to get refreshed. However, what actually happened was that I began to absolutely fall in love with group of guys they had assembled. They were all so legit, so real, so humble, and so willing to pour into others they had ever met. Out of this my heart began to soften. I felt … [Read more...]

THE HEIST: DAY 1

BLOGHEISTD1

Today is the day that we all pull off a heist together. Over the next week or so there are going to be friends, family, and strangers that are going to leave some love for one of my best friends HERE!!! Click the link above and let the encouragement and love begin. Blake Bergstrom is my best friend and accountability partner. We live in two separate states, and are separated by many miles, but we talk a couple times a week by phone and have the occasional tokbox conversation. When we can, we traverse the states and miles and spend time pouring into each other and our families for the sake of friendship and brotherhood. He has been with me through thick and thin and is one that I can call a "lifer." In other words we will be friends until this life is over. So starting today...go give him some love. If you are not sure what this is about check out yesterday's post HERE to find out more. … [Read more...]

WHO LOVE’S A GOOD HEIST? I KNOW I DO…

BLOGHEIST

Starting tomorrow morning at 8:30am I get to take part in a heist. Now some of you are thinking...WHAT? A HEIST!!!? Now let me clarify before you call the feds or show up at my place of work with people in all black repelling down the building and running in screaming "DOWN DOWN DOWN!!!" I am leading and performing a Blog Heist of a great friend. Now I am not revealing the location until tomorrow morning, but I would love for all of you to participate. Now before we enter into this heist together there are a few things you need to know as to why this is taking place. The individual that we are taking over is a dear friend of mine. In fact is my best friend who has been through thick and thin with me over the last decade. He pours out mass amounts of encouragement and love to people everyday. Now it is our turn to pour out love and encouragement for him. He pulled two substantial pranks on me about a month ago and instead of taking him down in typical fashion I … [Read more...]

SOMEONE ELSE HAS MY LAST NAME NOW!!!

LAURADT3BW

This time nine years ago I woke up with a sinus issue, sweaty palms, and an anticipation like none I had ever had before. In just four short hours I would no longer be one, but I would be two. I would no longer come home to dinners of Ramen and Mt. Dew to sit in my boxers and play hours of Madden without a care in the world. In four short hours I would be completed unlike any other completion known to man, except for the completion we find in God alone. In four short hours I would become the most over achieved man in the history of the world and would be completely ok with that. In four short hours someone else would have the last name DeVage and she would make the name look much better. I'll never forget the details of the day. I remember the smell of the auditorium, the cloud formations of the morning, the smell of the grass the guy was cutting at the church, the look of the chairs and that one that looked slightly off when I first walked into the room and a myriad of other things. … [Read more...]
