yesterday was black friday. i watched my facebook and twitter feeds light up with people getting their shopping done. there were a few in the internet world that were stoked to have filled their instant gratification desire. the world that we live in is funny. there is no longer a save and buy mentality. we live in a buy and pay off world now. however, what i have noticed is that it seems that we are a lot more unhappy and less satisfied with whatever that thing is that we used to instantly gratify ourselves. what would happen if we waited, saved and then purchased? first, i wonder if we would even buy at all if we waited? two, i wonder if time would allow us to appreciate and purchase things that would matter a little more? three, i wonder if we would still feel the emptiness that stuff seems to bring? your turn...what do you think? … [Read more...]

uganda makes me thankful…

This is one of the beautiful girls in the village in Uganda. She was injured by the LRA and lost both of her parents at their hands. Yet this smile is full of hope and melts hearts. This makes me thankful today. We got to be there for the opening of the water well we helped raise money to put in for this village. There are now over 400 families from 2 villages that will now have clean drinking water. This makes me thankful today. This girl was the first girl to pump water from the new well. She was so excited to have fresh water. This makes me thankful. Normally not a two tone edit guy, but the hope in the yellow of that can for these children is huge. who would you give a second chance to?

a few weeks ago i read this incredible book by mike foster. you should pick it up HERE. it spoke right to the core of what i long to be and do. what is great is that there is an entire movement that has been spawned called People Of The Second Chance. i met zach when he was a sophomore in high school. around two years ago i met a girl who was his new girlfriend. the story goes like this...zach brought her up to introduce her to me and apparently i looked at her and before i said "hi, nice to meet you," or anything else i said "you have awesome eyes and i want to photograph you." awkward i know, but i'm a photographer and when you look at the pics below you will understand why. she has killer eyes and zach has a swagger unlike any other that i know. i am stoked for these two and hope you enjoy the pics. good luck to zach and ashley and their october wedding. … [Read more...]
