Daily Photo Journal March 21st, 2009 Last night was a rough night for us all. Natalie cried from about 12:00am until 5:45am. She simply did not want to go to sleep. As a result we were all awake for that five hour and forty five minute span. There was frustration, tears, anger, laughter and concern. Today has been a somewhat lazy day. Other than going to the bank and picking up shirts for the tour we have laid around and done nothing today. Finally I got in the floor and just cuddled up with my little girl and was reminded that there is nothing she could ever do to make me not want to hug her, kiss her, cuddle with her and most importantly...LOVE HER!!! I love my family unconditionally. Even in our dysfunctional moments we love each other. We put the "FUN" in "dysFUNctional". Who do you love unconditionally? And why? … [Read more...]

MAKING IT IN MINISTRY- PART 2

The other day I started a series for you all about a seminar that I taught to some Jr. and Sr. Ministry Majors at Dallas Christian College. Here are a few more thoughts for you to chew on. 5. Spend More Time Working & Developing Your Strengths Instead Of Your Weaknesses- For the first few years of ministry I had people tell me all the time that I needed to really spend the majority of my time working on my weaknesses. So I did just that. I spent hours trying to be more administrative, more organized, more type "A" personality. The problem with that was the fact that I was absolutely miserable and became ineffective in the areas that I was actually gifted in. Do I think weaknesses need to be developed...ABSOLUTELY!!! Do I think that should be your focus? NOT A CHANCE. I have learned to surround myself with people that are strong in the area's that I am not and let them be passionate about those things. When I can truly focus on my strengths I become way more effective in … [Read more...]

Daily Photo Journal March 12th, 2009 Over the past couple of weeks here in Dallas it has been awesome. The weather has been in the low to mid 80's during the day and 50's at night. It is really short sleeve or long sleeve weather. Shorts or jeans weather. Then it happened. This morning I awoke to a day that was bitterly cold. When I left my house this morning it was 36 degrees. Today...it is frickin' freezing Mr. Bigglesworth. Bring back the sunshine...or at least some warmth. … [Read more...]

Daily Photo Journal March 10th, 2009 Came home tonight to my two little girls. My two year old Natalie came home sick with a 102 degree fever. My wife took her to the doctor and I got some alone time with my four year old Ella. I was laying in the floor chillin' out and she came over and laid face to face with me and giggled and said she loved me. I love these moments with her. She is so loving and tender. Hope you enjoy this moment we captured. … [Read more...]

Daily Photo Journal March 7th, 2009 Today we finally had an all family day together. We have not had one of those in awhile. We decided to go to this place called Incredible Pizza. It is pretty much Chuck E. Cheese on crack. More food, more games and more tickets than any kid, or parent for that matter could comprehend in their minds. We had a blast. We did putt putt, bowling, go carts, rode fake horses and ate a lot of craptastic food. We decided to do a pic in one of those booths as a family. Here was the result. I love how this DPJ installment is not some creative and planned pose. I like that this one is just me and my family enjoying a day together. … [Read more...]

Daily Photo Journal March 5th, 2009 Today seemed to be that day where it was constant movement. Movement from my bed to the shower. From the house to my kids school. From school to the chiropractor. From chiropractor to meeting. From meeting to meeting. From that meeting to meeting. From meeting to kids school. From kids school to home. From home to mens study. From mens study to friend at Starbucks. From Starbucks to gas station. From gas station to home. I walk through the door tonight and all I really wanted to do was curl up on the couch and read. Laura was in bed asleep. The girls were dreaming of the things that little girls dream of and I need to unwind. So I grabbed my book, curled up on the couch and drifted into slumber reading all about grace. … [Read more...]

Daily Photo Journal February 28th, 2009 This morning has been great. We began to wake from our slumber this morning around 7:00ish. First it was my wife, then my Ella Bella Cinderella, then my Natalie, them me and then by good friend from Austin who laid his head to rest here not but 6 hours earlier. I love the stirring in the house when we are all home. Laura had already started breakfast and the smell of bacon was permeating all rooms of the house. Coffee brewing was almost enough to give me the jolt of caffeine that I needed to fully open my optics. We all made our way to the living room without saying word. It was like going to a funeral where no one talks, but you all know why you are there. Except today it was not because of death, it was because of the food we were about to devour. The wife made an awesome breakfast. It is an omelet egg wrap. The egg is the wrap and it is filled with cheese and bacon. Mmmmmmm....Once we were filled to the top of our throats, Bush packed up and … [Read more...]
