MELTING PAINT OFF OF WALL…

Yesterday I had the privilege of shooting some photos for my boy Cal Knapp. If you have ventured around these parts very often then you have probably seen the occasional photo of him. However, believe it or not, this is the first legit shoot we have actually done for him. He was in need of some new photos for some promo stuff he needed and we both had a vision for what this could look like. I have to say that it surpassed both our expectations with the finished product. Here are a few of my favs from yesterday:

The title of this post may lead one to think that I took a picture of trees…

However you could not be more wrong. Even though I do love the occasional picture of woodland goodness, these photos are actually of my good friends Ben and Crystal Woods. I have known this fine looking couple for the better part of 13 years now and have to say that I love them more and more as time goes on. Ben and I spent a brief time of life traveling and playing music, but have spent even more time enjoying life and pouring into each other. While in the frozen tundra of Illinois I got to spend a day taking some rad new pics for my friends and their family. Check em’ out.

The Gotcher’s are one of those families that I know that I will be friends with the rest of my life. Three years ago they commissioned me to take their family photos when I was first starting out in photography and today was our annual moment in time to shoot some more photos of their rockin looking family!!! One of my best friends on this earth, Mr. Josh DeVine. We have done a couple of extreme things together. I like that about our friendship.

FINDING THE RHYTHM OF LIFE

Some of you may know that over the past couple of years I have had the privilege to be a part of a group of men that are taking a journey of life together. Two years ago none of us knew each other. We showed up in Estes Park, Colorado in hopes that this was not an Amway Scam or some sort of “leave us in the woods for dead” kind of thing. Sure enough it was neither. It was simply this vision of one man to help bring rhythm and pace to lives of young men before they found themselves burnt out and ready to quit. I have to say that at first my desire was nothing more than to come, get refreshed and replenished, and come home. I had no real desire to make friends. I had no real desire to pour out. I had not desire than to get refreshed.

However, what actually happened was that I began to absolutely fall in love with group of guys they had assembled. They were all so legit, so real, so humble, and so willing to pour into others they had ever met. Out of this my heart began to soften. I felt much like the Grinch when the Who’s accepted him. I longed to be in relationship with them. I longed to hear their stories. I longed to pour into them as well.

So here I sit three years later, having traveled to Estes Park, San Diego and now Crested Butte, CO to do life with these incredible men. At the end of the first year they gave us all T-Shirts with the attributes that they saw in us that stood out the most. Out of this journey I have gained 19 new friends, but two of them have become those that I would call close friends. In fact the post below this one is of those two incredible men. Josh and Kyle. Josh is a guy from Nashville who is changing his story each and every day in order to be more like Christ. Kyle is a man who three years ago was ready to be done and today is a man of confidence and great faith. He loves people unconditionally and is now at a really great place in life. On the backs of their shirts there were two phrases written that have been key in the Rhythm of their lives.

DEVINELY GILBERT

So I am in Colorado this week for a little thing called Rhythm In Twenty that I have been a part of for the last two years. Today I am spending my time with two of my favorite people from this crew, Mr. Josh DeVine and Kyle Gilbert. We decided today to go out and take some new pics for these guys. Believe it or not these were taken behind a Holiday Inn Express!!! Enjoy!!!

THE HEIST: DAY 1

Today is the day that we all pull off a heist together. Over the next week or so there are going to be friends, family, and strangers that are going to leave some love for one of my best friends HERE!!!

Click the link above and let the encouragement and love begin. Blake Bergstrom is my best friend and accountability partner. We live in two separate states, and are separated by many miles, but we talk a couple times a week by phone and have the occasional tokbox conversation. When we can, we traverse the states and miles and spend time pouring into each other and our families for the sake of friendship and brotherhood. He has been with me through thick and thin and is one that I can call a “lifer.” In other words we will be friends until this life is over. So starting today…go give him some love.
