I am reading Rob Bell's new book "Jesus Wants To Save Christians" and it is kicking my butt. There is a paragraph that I want to share with you and it caused me to stop and take notice of where and what I am doing. "Sin always gains a head of steam when it goes unchecked. And that always leads to institutions and cultures and structures that are anti-kingdom. This leads to dehumanizing places, like Egypt had become, which these former slaves standing at the base of Sinai know all too well. And God's response is to form a different kind of nation, a "holy" one shaped not by greed, violence, and abusive power but by compassion, justice and care for one's neighbor." … [Read more...]

“THE 4:42″
My eyes popped open early. It is still and quiet. The only noise I hear is the breathing of my wife and a low hum from the ceiling fan. I lay in wait and wonder why I am awake so early. For a moment...Nothing! Then my two year old lets out a whimper, then a scream. I almost get up joyfully simply because the silence has finally been broken. I look and my wife continues to slumber. As I walk in her room I pick her up, console her and put her back down...all is again silent!!! I am not tired anymore. I walk in the kitchen, look at the clock, and it screams in green L.E.D. language 4:42am!!! Oddly I am ok with the time and grab my bible, my journal and my current reading material. I open the door to my patio and sit in my favorite chair with the stool to prop my feet up. I now wait to hear God's voice through one of my mediums I have brought with me. Again...silence...As I start reading a dog barks. I am then drawn to the book of Nahum! Weird is my first thought. Not sure why Nahum but I … [Read more...]
BITE MARKS ON NIPPLES AND WHISKERS ON KITTENS
Let me start this by telling you a couple of things about me. I have two little girls that I absolutely and utterly adore. Ella is four and Natalie is almost 2. For the most part they get along great. They don't really fight, they play well together, they are great sisters and really love each other. Now there are many things that I as a dad have prayed for long before my kids were born. I prayed for things like a good spouse for my children. I prayed that they would find their own faith in God not just live out my wife and I's faith. However, the one thing I prayed for that one might not suspect is that my kid would not be the kid that bites other kids. You know the one I am talking about. The kid at church that is always biting the other kids in nursery. Or the one that bites kids at school, or home, or out at a restaurant, or walking through the mall. You know the one...the little T-Rex carnivor kid. I prayed hard that that would not be my kid. For awhile I thought God might spite … [Read more...]
