My wife bought both my girls new sunglasses for vacation last night. Ella is destined to be a movie star. She put hers on, walked over to me, asked me to get my phone camera out and proceeded to say, "Take my picture...DAHLING(insert snooty movie star voice here)." I have hesitated posting this as a result of how people have freaked out in the past when I am working through things in my mind. However, I feel like someone else may benefit from my crazy thoughts...so here we go. Over the past few months I have been struggling with this ever growing discontent within my soul. At first I just dismissed it as me getting older, life changing directions a lot in the last year, my kids getting older...etc. However, this nagging at my soul has not decreased. In fact, if I am honest with myself and you, it has increased. I have been trying to pinpoint it for months. In the standards of the "church" culture I seem to have it all. I am in one of the most successful churches in the country, (so we are told by a Christian Magazine), I am in a successful multi-site location preaching and teaching every week to an incredible group of people, my family is healthy for the most part, my leadership supports me, and I am living the "American Christian Dream." SOMETIMES THE SUN MAKES ME ANGRY…

Sometimes the sun makes me angry... Not to the point that I will no longer befriend it, mostly to the point that I want it to go away for a bit. Sometimes the clouds that cover that celestial ball of radiating heat make me happy... It brings me joy to know that there is still something that can get creative enough to cover our source of light and heat. I know that it may sound a bit morbid or to some a little bit dreamy, But I rather enjoy a soft fluffy piece of joy in my day as opposed to a blinding piece of yellow. Sometimes the rain brings me a jolt of joy... As the tears from heaven hit the ground at a rapid pace it reminds me that it is ok to lament and be saddened, the thunder clapping makes me feel as if there is one bigger than I, the lightning flashing brings me to my knees in submission every time, maybe this is the way that I was meant to live.
