As I made my way to the back of the tiled room I was able to follow these beautifully wet footprints left behind. As I walked I was literally in a daze of what had just happened. I even said to myself as I was leaving the stage that this was the single greatest service I have ever been in during my ministry life. Just a few moments earlier I had the privilege of watching people step from death to life, from wide path to narrow path, from fan to follower. We launched into week two of this series Not A Fan yesterday. This series is for sure not for the faint of heart. It is truth, and truth has a tendency to make people uncomfortable. For 25 minuets I literally watched some people squirm in their seats as we opened the truth about baptism and surrender to Christ. BUT THEN…!!!
It was Thursday. There was a buzz in the air. People were filing in from everywhere...It was time. People were dressed to impress and were traveling with their entourages. Stages were being set up and music was starting to move through the air with grace and ease. One by one they awoke to this scene unfolding right outside their second story window. There was laughter and conversation blanketing the streets. However, as they drug themselves out of bed they realized he was not there. They just assumed that he would be in the thick of it. HEAD IN THE CLOUDS
i'm a dreamer. i love to think about what things can be like. i can get a vivid picture in my head and see what it looks like in reality. in church world that can be a great commodity and dangerous at the same time. it is great because vision must be cast out of looking from the clouds and seeing the big picture. however, this can be very dangerous because sometimes we can get our head stuck in the clouds and never come to the dirt and put the shovel to those dreams. the people i see doing the most good in the church are those who balance having their heads in the clouds and then parachuting down to the dirt to make them a reality. we make all sorts of excuses for staying in the clouds. we make lots of BUT statements...(might I add those are big but's- #sirmixalotreferernce) i would get in the dirt, BUT...i might get dirty. i would get in the dirt, BUT...the clouds are nice and i don't have to do anything but dream. i would get in the dirt, BUT...what if others don't … [Read more...]
