My boys from OUTLET are prepared to play a rockin show tonight and I cannot wait to see them Rock It Like A Hurricane!!! I am actually really excited about the opportunity to share our Remedy vision with a new crowd of people tonight and cannot wait to see how they respond. H-TOWN

Well here it is 6:40AM and I have now been up for almost two hours. Today we are heading to Houston for a big benefit show for Remedy For This Heart. We have some good friends there that believe in what we are doing, so they are hosting a big battle of the bands and all the proceeds go to our organization. Thank you to Jeremy and Eli at Grace Christian Church for all of your support and help. I am taking my good friends in the band OUTLET with me and they will be playing a great rock show tonight and then hanging around with me tomorrow to lead worship when I speak. So with that said...H-TOWN here we come. I will update later today and tonight and let you know how everything goes. Until then. Wearing The Hearts Of Others On My Sleeve!!! … [Read more...]

UNACCOMPLISHED ACCOMPLISHMENTS

It has definantly been one of those weeks. Have you ever had one of those? You feel like you have done a lot, but at the end of each day you are not really sure what you did. That has been my entire week. Let me walk you through this week up to this point. Monday: Woke up early to take my girls to school. Wife has the flu and stuck in bed. Go to work(or lack thereof) and do stuff until 4:00pm. Go pick up girls from school. Go home and cook dinner. Put girls to bed. Listen to wife hack. Play Madden 08 on my psp. Go Sleep. Tuesday: Wake up early again and take girls to school. Go to staff meeting with team. Go to creative team and be slightly creative for an hour. Go to preaching team and write sermons with our team. Go to young adult stuff and lead worship. Go home and watch L.A. Ink. Listen to my wife hack again. Watch local news and go to sleep. Wednesday: Wake up early(not because I had to take girls to school, but now my internal clock is set). Get to work early and don't … [Read more...]

LOSING CONTROL

Yester"day" was a great day. I had the privilege of speaking this weekend to a couple thousand people onĀ  hearing God speak. It was really a surreal experience this weekend. On top of that our non-for-profit organization had its biggest weekend to date in selling our merchandise. All in all yester"day" was a great day. Then the tired and cranky set into my soul. My wife stayed home with our girls in the morning because she was not feeling well. When I came home I sent her to the afternoon clinic down the street to have her find out that she has the flu and is highly infectious (woo hoo)!!! On top of that my oldest daughter decided that she did not want to listen to a single thing that we asked her to do. This is where I began to lose control. Even though yester"day" was great, yester"night"(yes I understand that that is not a word) sucked!!! I got to that point where I was simply angry with my three year old. I found myself yelling and ranting and raving over stupid stuff. I was … [Read more...]

KYLE

Every couple of weeks I have the incredible opportunity to hang out with a couple hundred homeless friends. Over the course of the past couple months I have become friends with a 49 year old (his birthday is today) homeless man named Kyle. I just want to share with you what I have learned from Kyle. The first night I met him, he was a little innebreated, but we talked for a good two hours. It never got below surface level that first night, but at the end of the night he asked me to pray with him. So for the past month I have been praying for Kyle. All day yesterday I prayed that as we went to the hood to hang out with my homeless friends that Kyle would be there. Really it was a shot in the dark, but I thought if anyone could make it happen it might be God!!! So we pull up to the center and as I step out of the car the very first person I see standing by the gate was...you guessed it...KYLE!!! Right away I recognized him and called him by name. He turned and looked at me with that … [Read more...]

JUSTICE

So have you ever been in traffic or driving down the road and uttered these words..."If I were a cop I would write that guy a ticket a mile long" or "Where are the cops when you need them." So the other day I was on my way home when a guy pulled across the road right in front of me. As a result I had to slam on brakes and swerve into oncoming traffic to avoid slamming into the side of this driving impaired individual. As I was about to utter one of my two phrases from above I looked up and saw one of the most beautiful sights I have ever seen...a pair of blue and red lights that turned on and a little sound of the siren for good measure. I looked in my rear view mirror to see the cop pull this guy over. I am pretty sure that I actually said out loud, "THERE are the cops when you need them." To that I say...JUSTICE is served!!! What a good day. … [Read more...]

SACRIFICE

Today as I sit and reflect and think I wonder what it truly means to sacrifice. I was reading in Leviticus four today and it was talking over the sacrifices to God. There are these intricate ways to offer your sacrifice and it has to be done just right. All of this so that it is pleasing to God. The question that I kept asking myself, is what do I sacrifice today for the sake of the Kingdom of God? I live in a great house, own two cars and a motorcycle. I have two beautiful and healthy kids. I have the most incredible woman on the planet as my wife and I get to minister at one of the most progressive churches I have ever been a part of. So at the end of the day what does it mean for me to sacrifice? Now understand that I don't think there is anything wrong with any of these things. However, at the end of the day what have I really sacrificed? The other question at hand is, what is the severity of my own sin and how great was the sacrifice to cover it? I mean as a minister I talk about … [Read more...]

YOU ARE DIMISSED

I had just walked off stage from speaking on a Sunday morning. I noticed a lady that was making a bee line for me. Now usually when people look that determined to talk you they either want to thank you or shred you. This was the shredder type. At the end of the service I simply said..."Have a great day, you are dismissed." As she approached me she said this, "I don't need to be dismissed, I need to be blessed." Now everything inside of me went off. I looked at her and asked if she was able to breathe, was she able to get out of bed, was she able to walk, was she able to see and hear. She looked at me and said "Well of course." I said "then you are blessed." Oh and since we are part of the greatest army ever assembled then I guess what I have to say is, YOU ARE DISMISSED!!! … [Read more...]

Coffee House Writing…

Sitting in Buon Giorno Coffe Shop working on sermon stuff today. The irony is that I am writing a message called "God Spoke" and I desperately need him to do that right now. Writers block...maybe I need a coffee and a banana. In fact...I am going to order that right now. … [Read more...]
